The five farms
Five starting points for a different future.
Five farms, from wetlands to flatlands to hills. All of them were overexploited, overgrazed and left run-down when this work began. Four are now under our regenerative management, each with a different productive system and different goals. Together they are the first proof of concept for everything Onzenu aims to do.
San Jorge - 100 hectares
Really flat land that mostly floods, built on a historical wetland. Run as a male buffalo operation. This is where we learn to farm with the water, not against it.
Patio Bonito / Los Robles - 180 hectares
Half wetland, half flatland, run as a dairy buffalo farm. A test of productive wetland-edge dairying with habitat kept in the system.
Garrapata - 230 hectares
Flatland, the most productive farm of the group, run as a traditional operation. Garrapata is not managed by us; it stands as the conventional comparison inside the group.
El Palmar - 130 hectares
Small hills, and once the most cleared of the farms. Now it is a restoration front line: what comes back when clearing stops.
Esquimales - more than 500 hectares
Big hills and creeks, with the most tree cover and the richest biodiversity of the five. The closest thing we have to a picture of the goal.
What we will publish.
Each farm gets a baseline record: the place, the date, the condition, the management, the question being tested. Progress will be published against that record, with methods and limits attached. Until those records exist, you will find no charts and no claimed trends here. An empty page is more honest than an invented success.
